Polish rising star Jakub Ojrzynski is to undergo a Liverpool medical as he finalises a £200,000 move to the club, Football Insider understands.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that Ojrzynski has been given the go-ahead to jet into England and complete a move from Legia Warsaw to the Champions League finalists this summer.
It is regarded as a coup for Liverpool as the youngster’s other suitors have included Manchester United and Italian champions Juventus.
Ojrzynski will link up with the Kirkby Academy and Barry Lewtas’ victorious FA Youth Cup-winning under-18s squad when pre-season training starts in early July.
He has been earmarked to join the likes of Shamal George, Vitezslav Jaros, Kai McKenzie-Lyle and Ben Winterbottom in the youth team set-up, where he will compete for a place in the Under-18s before aiming to progress into the Under-23s.
Czech youngster Jaros was the first choice for the Under-18s in the recently completed campaign and played in the dramatic FA Youth Cup triumph over Manchester City, which was won via a penalty shoot-out.
There is also likely to be a shake-up of the senior keeping roster at Anfield this summer, as long-serving Simon Mignolet prepares to look for a new club.
The Belgium international has played second fiddle to established first choice Alisson this season and is eager to be a number one again after initially losing his place to Loris Karius.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that an Anfield attacker has rejected a new five-year contract and he is set to join one of their Premier League top-six rivals.
