Middlesbrough are poised to sign highly-rated West Ham attacker Marcus Browne, with the player due for a medical, Football Insider understands.

West Ham have surprisingly agreed to sell Browne and Middlesbrough have beaten off interest from a number of clubs to secure a deal for the winger.

A source at West Ham has told Football Insider that the wide man is on his way to undergo a medical on Thursday before signing a permanent deal in the north east.

Middlesbrough have been quiet in this summer’s transfer window so far and boss Jonathan Woodgate is determined to strengthen his squad before next month’s deadline.

Browne enjoyed a successful season on loan at Oxford United last term, scoring nine goals and creating five assists for the League One outfit.

Browne was highly-regarded at West Ham having come through the ranks at the club from the age of eight and making his debut during the 2016/17 season when he played against Astra Giurgiu in a Europa League qualifier and he has also been on the bench for several games.
