Medical underway: Bogusz agrees terms of Leeds transfer - Sources

Leeds United playmaker Mateusz Bogusz is undergoing a medical in Spain, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Poland Under-21 international has agreed to join second-tier club UD Ibiza.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that manager Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light for Bogusz, 19, to leave on a season-long loan.

He has begun medical tests at UD Ibiza as he puts the finishing touches to the transfer.

Bielsa and his coaching staff rate Bogusz highly and believe he has the potential to make it in the Premier League.

But they do not regard him as quite ready for the English top flight and want him to get more experience overseas to finetune his game.

Bogusz spent last season on loan at Spanish second-tier club UD Logrones and had his first regular starting role at senior level.

He made 27 appearances in all competitions, including 23 in the league made up of nine starts.

There has been plenty of interest from EFL clubs in the attacking midfielder, who is versatile enough to play in more defensive roles as well.

This comes after strong interest in him last summer from English trio Portsmouth, Swindon Town and Gillingham.

But United felt it would be best for him to spend another campaign in Spain before he plays in the physically demanding Football League.

Bogusz has made just three appearances for Leeds since joining in January 2019 from Polish outfit Ruch Chorzow.
