Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull is undergoing a Celtic medical, Football Insider can reveal.

The 21-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Scottish giants after they had a bid worth more than £3million in total accepted by their SPL rivals.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Turnbull will become Celtic's third senior summer signing if he passes medical tests.

The deal now hinges on the outcome of scans on Turnbull's knee, 14 months after his 2019 move collapsed at the eleventh hours following a failed medical.

Should the medics give the green light, Celtic are set to announce the signing in the next 24 hours.

It will be a major coup for the Scottish champions, who have chased the versatile playmaker for two years.

The Scotland Under-21 international has begun the season in impressive form and the Hoops coaching staff have seen enough to be convinced he is fully recovered from the knee surgery that ruined his 2019-20 campaign.

Neil Lennon has high hopes for Turnbull, who he believes has the technical quality to replace exit-bound Tom Rogic.

Turnbull blossomed in 2018-19, scoring 16 goals and supplying seven assists for Motherwell from just 34 matches in all competitions.

He has started all five of their SPL matches this season, scoring in the 2-2 draw against Hibernian.
