St Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan is undergoing a medical ahead of completing his move to Celtic, according to a report.
STV claims that Morgan, 21, was at Glasgow’s Ross Hall hospital on Thursday morning as they close in on yet another midfielder signing after it was confirmed by Belconnen United on Wednesday that Australian Leo Mazis had been snapped up by the Hoops.
Former Rangers kid Morgan has been in hot form for St Mirren this season, scoring 13 goals and supplying eight assists from playing in a number of positions across the midfield.
The Scotland Under-21 international plays predominantly on the left wing but is also capable of playing in an attacking midfield position or on the right.
It is understood that Morgan will be signed by Celtic and then loaned back to the Scottish Championship side for the remainder of the season.
Football Insider verdict
Morgan will be a very good signing for Celtic and will no doubt become a key first-team player in the future. He has shown bags of potential with St Mirren and the Scotland Under-21s side, so it was a bit of a no-brainer for Celtic to make a move for the winger this month before anyone else comes in for him. Brendan Rodgers could really have done with Morgan in his team straight away though rather than waiting until next season. Scott Sinclair’s dire form and the injuries to Patrick Roberts and Jonny Hayes means that the Hoops are short of options in an area that they are usually very sturdy in.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops have held positive talks with the agent of this South American defender.
