Former Liverpool striker and pundit Michael Owen has given his verdict on the Premier League title race and Arsenal fans aren’t going to be happy.

Owen took to Twitter ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Manchester City to claim that only three sides were capable of winning the league this season.

The 89-time capped England striker named Liverpool, Chelsea and City as his title contenders, ruling out a challenge from fourth-placed Arsenal.

The prediction will not sit well with Arsenal fans, who will be hoping for a positive response from their side when they take on West Ham in the late kick-off on Saturday.

Manchester United and Tottenham, who are fifth and sixth in the league respectively, were also omitted from Owen’s prediction.

However, Owen was far from correct in his prediction for the game with Chelsea taking the spoils at the Etihad.

Antonio Conte’s Blues fought-back from behind to defeat nine-man Manchester City on Saturday, thanks to goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard.

Sergio Aguero was the first of Pep Guardiola’s men to be sent off, receiving a straight red card for his horror tackle on David Luiz.

City team-mate Fernandinho was then sent off for his role in the aftermath, grabbing Cesc Fabregas and throwing him over the advertising boards.

Guardiola’s side are now four points behind leaders Chelsea, and could drop to fourth if Arsenal beat West Ham.

Liverpool, meanwhile, face Bournemouth on Sunday, while Manchester United take on Everton.
