Michael Owen predicts Tottenham v Watford, claims history will repeat itself

By Dominic Toner

Michael Owen believes that Tottenham will keep their undefeated record over Watford on Sunday and secure the three points.

Spurs have faced the Hornets six times during the Premier League era and are undefeated in the meetings.

The north London club won the two fixtures last season with a 1-0 home success and a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel to Watford on New Year’s Day in good spirits after winning their last three consecutive games and they are just a point outside the top four in fifth-place.

Owen predicts Spurs to earn another a victory against Watford and begin the new year strongly.

“The Hornets have never beaten Spurs in the PL and I can’t see past an away win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Vicarage Road in the opening game of 2017,” Owen wrote in his BetVictor column.

Spurs are now trying to establish themselves as a top side in England and face tough competition to finish inside the top four this season.

They comfortably finished third last campaign after a title challenge and added to their squad in the transfer window, but their rivals have all stepped up a gear.

Pochettino’s side will be expected to earn the three points at Watford especially after their impressive 4-1 away win against Southampton in their last game.

However, Walter Mazzarri’s side are set to be a tough obstacle to overcome and they are currently 10th in the league table.
