Mills: Celtic tipped to complete record-breaking Ajer deal after news breaks
Danny Mills has suggested Celtic will sell Kristoffer Ajer to Brentford soon.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender claimed the two clubs were playing “a game of poker”.
Football Insider broke the news on 14 July Brentford are submitting a new £15million bid for the Norway international.
They have already had an offer of £12million plus £3million of add-ons rejected but will return with a bid that has a higher guaranteed payment.
That would break the Bees’ transfer record of a reported £5million that they paid for Ivan Toney last summer.
Football Insider learned on 13 July the Hoops board want £20million for Ajer this window.

That has left him raging as they had previously promised he would be sold if they received a £15million bid.
Ajer has just 12 months left remaining on his Celtic contract.
“This is now all a game of poker,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“That’s what it all comes down to. We’re very close to a deal being done but now it becomes a little bit about ego. Who can appear to come out with the best deal?
“All parties want to do that and at some point somebody’s going to have to give a little bit. Nobody wants to give first and appear to be weak which is bonkers, it’s a barmy way of doing business.
“You want the player, get it done. End of story.
“It all depends on the character and what his manager thinks of that.”
Ajer has played 176 appearances for Celtic, 46 of which came last season.
He was one of the bright sparks in a poor campaign for the Hoops last term.
