Mills: Celtic told to launch loan swoop for Ryan after key reveal
Mathew Ryan would be open to a loan move to Celtic, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender insisted the goalkeeper would be keen to put himself in the shop window with a short-term deal.
As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday 15 June, Celtic have registered their interest in Ryan and are putting together a contract package.
They face competition from Premier League club Arsenal where the Australian spent the second half of last season on loan.
Asked whether the prospect of regular football at Parkhead was more appealing than sitting on Arsenal’s bench, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I would think so.

“Sometimes even if you think you’re higher than that level, you’ve just got to go out and play and prove it to people.
“Nobody likes sitting on the bench, no matter how much money you’re earning. You don’t want to work all week just to sit on the bench at the weekend or during the big games.
“You want to be playing. Celtic will have big games and there’s no better feeling than playing.
“At the end of a tough week’s training, you want to put into practice what you’ve been working on. There’s no better feeling.
“Even if it’s short-termism or a short-term deal to go to Celtic, it’s a win-win for both. The player’s happy because he’s probably playing football on a regular basis. The club are getting a top player that wants to play week in, week out, who wants to improve and show how good he is. The attitude should be spot on.”
