Mills digs at potentially 'greedy' Goldson after Rangers transfer reveal
Danny Mills has warned Connor Goldson he could face an uncertain future if he decides to leave Rangers as a free agent next summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back pointed to the examples of Jack Wilshere and Serge Aurier as high-profile players struggling to find clubs.
Football Insider exclusively revealed at the beginning of the month Rangers rejected late-window interest in the defender.
He has just 12 months left to run on his Ibrox contract and could leave as a free agent next summer.
Asked whether Goldson may sign a new deal before the January window, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, it’s typical negotiations in a very strange financial climate.
“We saw the big boys spending regardless and there oblivious to Covid and it doesn’t seem to affect them in any way, shape or form.

“Even though Rangers are a big club, clearly finances are an issue, especially with covid. The whole situation in Scottish football has affected them.
“You have to be careful. Look at the likes of Jack Wilshere, unattached with no contract. Serge Aurier, unattached with no contract.
“Once it was brilliant to be on a free transfer. If you’re going to be greedy and ask for too much money you might have a little bit of an issue.”
Goldson did not miss a minute of league action last term as Rangers secured a historic 55th Scottish Premiership title.
The 28-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in all of the Gers’ nine games in all competitions this season.
