Mills shares verdict on Leeds potentially beating Norwich to Gunn signing
Danny Mills has claimed Angus Gunn is likely to snub a move to Leeds United and re-sign for Norwich City instead.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender claimed the presence of undisputed number one Illan Meslier would put Gunn, 25, off a move to Elland Road.
Football Insider revealed at the weekend (June 12) Leeds are trying to hijack Gunn’s move from Southampton to Norwich.
The Yorkshire giants are hopeful of offloading Kiko Casilla and have identified Gunn as a replacement.
But Mills has claimed the Saints star would not be happy with just sitting on the bench.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I guess the only thing he’s looking at and thinking is ‘Where is the best opportunity to be the number one?’

“Meslier’s obviously very, very young. That’s the only issue that he has there. It’s ‘How long do I have to wait for Meslier to have a shocker or a couple of shockers?’
“It’s not like he’ll get his chance because he’s younger. I guess it comes down to a personal preference of where he thinks he might get a chance first.
“That’s probably Norwich and obviously his Dad’s got history with the club. On the face of it, in terms of a player’s perspective, it would make more sense to go to Norwich as a second choice as you’re likely to get an opportunity quicker than you are at Leeds.”
Gunn, son of Norwich legend Brian, is a graduate of Manchester City’s academy.
Brian told talkSPORT in 2016 Pep Guardiola had personally blocked Angus from leaving the club on loan after he was left impressed with his performances in pre-season.
