Mills shares verdict on Tottenham making shock Fonseca U-turn after key reveal
Paulo Fonseca would not be receptive if Tottenham decided to U-turn on their decision to pull out of negotiations with him.
That is the view of ex-Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the manager situation at Spurs.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday (18 June) neogitations with both Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso are both “100 per cent off”.
Gattuso emerged as a candidate on 17 June after leaving Fiorentina which led Spurs to pull out of talks with Fonseca.
And it is for that reason Mills has claimed Fonseca would not want to re-open talks if Spurs performed a U-turn.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The circumstances were they thought they had somebody better.

“That’s quite damaging to your ego, it’s a big custard pie.
“That’s not really the way to do business when you know it’s like ‘Hang on a minute, we don’t want you. Oh, we can’t get him, we’ll have you back.’
“That’s always going to put you on the back foot. ‘They didn’t want me in the first place so if somebody else becomes available there’s every chance I’ll get the sack if I’m not doing particularly well.’
“It’s poor from Tottenham at the minute in terms of the manager situation. The number of managers that they keep having talks with and nothing happens.”
Tottenham have now been managerless for over 60 days after Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club in April.
Ryan Mason was placed in interim charge but left the role at the end of the Premier League season.
