Mills: Solskjaer is gutted at Man United after what I've heard
Man United should be “bitterly disappointed” after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender insisted the FA Cup is now the only trophy Man United can realistically win this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side lost their third-round Carabao Cup tie 1-0 to West Ham at Old Trafford.
It came just days after they beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium in the Premier League.
However, Solskjaer made 11 changes to his side as his hunt for a first trophy as Man United boss continues.
“You can only dismiss a competition when you’ve won it several times,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If Man City were to just dismiss the league cup you’d go ‘You know what? Fair enough’. If they just played their kids it’s not an issue because they’ve been there, seen there, done it. They’ve got other opportunities.
“Manchester United haven’t got anything. Are they going to win the Premier League? That’s going to be difficult. Are they going to win the Champions League? That’s even harder.
“Realistically, there are only two trophies they can win. It’s only about winning five games and then you get a trophy.
“They should be bitterly disappointed at being knocked out of the competition at this stage.
“It wasn’t an Under-23s team. Ole said it was a first-team squad with good camaraderie and all enjoyed playing together so you think they should have played a bit better than what we saw.”
