Danny Mills has tipped Leeds United forward Rodrigo Moreno to explode next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites defender insisted Marcelo Bielsa will improve the Spain international after a campaign hampered by the pandemic and injuries.
Rodrigo has missed Leeds’ last six Premier League games with a groin injury and before that, he had scored just three goals in 12 starts and 18 top-flight appearances in total.
The 29-year-old has operated behind lone forward Patrick Bamford at Elland Road after spending the majority of his career as a striker.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato24 report Italian giants Juventus are interested in signing Rodrigo in a swap deal involving winger Douglas Costa.
Asked whether Rodrgio has done enough to prove his worth to Bielsa, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he’s played well.
“I’d be surprised if they were to let him go this soon. That’s not how Bielsa works, he’s about bringing players in and improving them over the course of time.
“We’ve seen him have some good performances.
“We have to remember this has all happened through Covid which isn’t particularly easy for anybody or any football club and he’s had some injuries.
“Hopefully next season he’s more settled and the world starts to open up a little bit more…
“We can hope we don’t end up with a different player but a more improved player, and that’s what I’m expecting.”
Last season at Valencia, Rodrigo scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 34 games across all competitions.
The Brazil-born ace spent six seasons at the La Liga side before making the switch to Elland Road last August.
