Tyler Roberts and Helder Costa are still playing for their Leeds United futures despite their “incredible” performances against Manchester City, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted the pair had done their chances no harm with their battling displays in their 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Monday’s game against Liverpool, Marcelo Bielsa revealed he will assess all of his player’s future at the end of the season.
The Argentine told Leeds Live: “Every game has surprises and it is always best to let the campaign finish to gather all the arguments to make the decisions.”
Neither Roberts and Costa have established themselves in the Leeds starting XI this season and the pair have 21 Premier League starts between them.
“Everybody’s always playing for their future in one way shape or form,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But immediately you’re looking at Roberts and Costa. What can they do? What can they add? That’s what’s important, that’s what they’ve got aim for.
“They were incredible against Man City, absolutely superb. Sometimes it comes down to hard work, work rate and attitude. If you’ve got that it always gives the manager confidence and belief.
“But obviously you can add to that.”
Roberts is currently enjoying an extended run in the side with club-record signing Rodrigo Moreno out with injury.
Costa was handed his first start in four games against Man City after he replaced the ineligible Jack Harrison.
