Everton have found their long-term replacement for Leighton Baines in the shape of Lucas Digne, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England and Leeds United defender claimed it is an exciting time for the Toffees after the Frenchman signed a new long-term contract and plans for a new stadium were revealed.
Digne is one of the first names on Carlo Ancelotti’s teamsheet when available and has captained the club on occasion this season.

He has now committed his future to the Merseyside club until the summer of 2025 amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.
“Everton are moving in the right direction,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“After some indifferent signings for a couple of seasons, they’ve now got a fantastic manager in Carlo Ancelotti.
“He and Marcel Brands seem to have a really good connection and understanding. The recruitment has been really good at Everton.
“They’ve just got planning permission for the new stadium and they’re looking to move up in the world.
“They can cement that top eight position season in, season out and see where they can kick on from there.
“Lucas Digne is a fantastic attacking left-back. It was always going to be difficult to replace Leighton Baines, but there’s every chance in the future that he can go on and do that.”
Digne has registered six assists in his 16 Premier League appearances this term.
In his 97 games across all competitions for the Toffees, he has scored five goals and provided 19 assists.
