Mills 'wowed' by 'incredible' De Gea amid Man United transfer development
Danny Mills has admitted he has been left “wowed” by David de Gea’s transformation at Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and Leeds defender praised De Gea’s “incredible” mindset to fend off competition from Dean Henderson to establish himself as Man United’s number one.
The Spain international put in another top performance against Villareal in the Champions League and was described as “world-class” by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
His sensational start to the campaign has reportedly seen Henderson consider his Old Trafford future.
The Sun reported last week (September 22) that the Englishman wants to leave on loan in January after failing to displace De Gea.
“Henderson went back to challenge for the number one spot and that obviously hasn’t worked out,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“All credit to David de Gea, let’s be honest. He has been exceptional, his attitude has been fantastic.
“I go right back to when that deal to Real Madrid fell through and I think ‘Wow, that’s some effort to bounce back from that’. You can’t argue with that, at all.
“It’s been an incredible effort to get back from that. So all credit to David de Gea for making sure Dean Henderson is not the number one, through no fault of his own. It’s just the sheer fact that De Gea has stepped up and proven he is a very, very good goalkeeper.”
De Gea almost signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 only for the deal to collapse at the last minute due to a fax machine failure.
The 30-year-old has two years left to run on his United contract while the club hold an option to extend it for a further 12 months.
