Aleksandar Mitrovic has told Newcastle United’s hierarchy that he wants a move to Fulham and will not play for them again if they price him out of making the switch, according to a report.
TEAMTalk report that the 23-year-old powerhouse forward is insisting that a deal can be reached with the Cottagers over a permanent transfer of his services despite the Magpies demanding £30million for him.
According to this report, Fulham are keen on reaching a deal for Mitrovic but are not willing to pay more than £20million in order to get him.
Football Insider verdict:
While Mitrovic no doubt has his reasons to ensure he gets his ideal move to Craven Cottage this summer if he is threatening not to play for the club again then he is going about getting his transfer the wrong way. The 23-year-old forward clearly isn’t Rafa Benitez’s favourite player as it is and if he gets stuck at St James Park then he is risking his career by trying to force his exit. The Magpies are entitled to play hard ball over selling the forward and if Fulham really want him then they will stump up the £30million fee needed for him. However hopefully the Magpies are demanding this staggering amount for the right reasons. If there are other clubs willing to pay £30million for him then they should sell to them instead, but if no one is willing to meet their demand then they must lower their price. It might not be the best situation selling to a Premier League rival, such as Fulham, but Benitez needs his transfer kitty boosted by Mitrovic’s departure one way or another.
