MK Dons in advanced talks to sign Charlie Goode as offer submitted
MK Dons are in advanced talks to sign centre-back Charlie Goode from League One rivals Stevenage on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the Lamex Stadium at the end of June, and has been offered a new deal by Alex Revell and Co.
However, third-tier new boys MK Dons are closing in on agreeing a deal to prize the defender away from the Hertfordshire outfit, who surprised many to reach the play-offs in League One last term.
The Dons are well-backed by their Kuwaiti ownership, and are looking to make a statement signing by raiding one of last year’s success stories in the early stages of the summer.
Charlie Goode set to bring League One experience to MK Dons
MK Dons secured promotion to League One at the start of May, but they will not be content with just making up the numbers in their first third-tier campaign since 2022-23.
The Buckinghamshire side have ambitions of making an immediate impression after their promotion, and they are already close to a deal to make Goode their first signing of the summer.

The defender turned out 43 times for Stevenage in the league last term, and now has several years of League One experience under his belt after previous spells with the likes of Wigan and Scunthorpe.
Goode even made six Premier League appearances for Brentford in the 2021-22 campaign, having played a bit-part role in their promotion to the top flight the year before.

After helping Stevenage match their highest-ever finish in the EFL pyramid once again this term, and being named in the League One team of the season, he is now on the verge of joining Paul Warne’s ambitious MK Dons side.
Dons ready to spend big on League One return
Football Insider revealed back in January that Curtis Nelson was having a medical at MK Dons ahead of his move to Stadium MK later that month.
That deal to prise the centre-back away from Derby County was one of several eye-catching transfers that they completed over the course of the season, while their heavy spending is expected to continue this term.
Their owners are always prepared to hand plenty of resources to Warne and the recruitment team, be that through transfer fees to lure other clubs into doing business, or big contracts to tempt free agents.
They now have Goode in their sights as their latest target, and that move could only be the start of their summer business as they look to build on the momentum that they created in 2025-26.
