Former Aston Villa and Everton CEO Keith Wyness understands that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is open to a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their ownerships – believes the next Liverpool manager will have a large transfer budget on the back of Salah's sale.

The 31-year-old Reds star has been made a top target by the Saudi Pro League as they look to expand their competition's popularity with new marquee signings.

Liverpool rejected offers for the Egyptian star last summer, but they are expected to face competition for his signature again in the upcoming transfer window.

As revealed by Football Insider, Liverpool will demand a fee in excess of £100million to allow Salah to leave this summer.

"Liverpool have obviously paid Mo Salah's amortisation down," Wyness told Football Insider.

"So there will be money available there if he goes this summer.

"I think he probably will go to Saudi from what I understand.

"They are going to have a decent pot, but who is the new manager and how is he going to view the squad?

"Where does he think they have to be strengthened?

"They've got some real young talent emerging that is starting to show they can do a good job, so maybe some of the positions that he thought he had to fill with high-priced players may not be so urgent."
