Mohamed Salah may have just admitted Liverpool are scared after 'surprise' reveal - pundit

Danny Mills has admitted he was “surprised” Mohamed Salah admitted he would rather Liverpool face Real Madrid than Man City in the Champions League final.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England defender suggested Salah has revealed Liverpool are secretly scared of Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 29-year-old told BT Sport after his side’s 5-2 aggregate win over Villareal on Tuesday (3 May) that he wanted Real Madrid in the final as he wanted “payback”.

He then tweeted after Real Madrid knocked out Man City yesterday (4 May) that his side “have a score to settle”.

Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the 2018 Champions League final when Salah was forced off after just 30 minutes with a dislocated shoulder.

“He said that because Ramos isn’t playing, Ramos might have done him in the tunnel this time!” Mills joked told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Realistically, I was surprised that he did it before the City game and Real Madrid had got through.

“If City had got through it would have said to them that Liverpool don’t want to play them and I think Liverpool would not have wanted to play them. Man City are the harder team to beat, bizarrely.

“They’ll look at the defence of Real Madrid and fancy themselves big time.

“Liverpool will be favourites going into that game but you cannot write off Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid knocked Liverpool out in the quarter-finals of last season’s Champions League 3-1 on aggregate.

It came at the height of Liverpool’s injury crisis with Ozan Kabak, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams lining up at the heart of the defence across both legs.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed the Liverpool owners have caused ‘huge damage’ as the Government is set to intervene.
