A director of Inter Milan had lunch with Jose Mourinho on Saturday and then accidentally let slip that he will manage Manchester United.
Football Insider revealed on Friday that Mourinho has reached an agreement with United to become their new manager at the end of the season.
The Premier League giants have reacted by distancing the club from reports that a deal is formally in place.
But Inter director Bedy Moratti, the sister of former club president Massimo Moratti, let slip where the Portugese will manage next season after she left a lunch meeting with Mourinho and her family.
“Of course he’s always fantastic and we missed him as a person here,” she said in the video interview with calciomercato.com.
Asked if Mourinho could return to Inter Milan as manager, Moratti replied: “No, he’s happy now, he’s going to Manchester.”
Mourinho, who led Inter to the treble in 2011, is in Milan after being invited by Moratti to watch the club in their clash against Sampdoria at San Siro on Saturday night.
A United source has told Football Insider that a deal is in place for Mourinho to take over at Old Trafford in the summer despite growing calls from supporters for him to take over from Louis van Gaal immediately.
The Portugese will become the next United manager after sealing a three-year contract worth £48million.
