Moyes 'will be fuming' at West Ham flashpoint - Campbell

Kevin Campbell has claimed West Ham manager David Moyes “will be fuming” after Michail Antonio was sent off in stoppage time against Southampton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker fears the 31-year-old will be an irreplaceable force for the Hammers given his pace and power.

Antonio has been West Ham’s standout performer this season and was awarded the Premier League Player of the Month for August.

However, a red card for a second bookable offence in the 95th minute of Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Southampton will see him miss Sunday’s visit of Manchester United.

Moyes will be forced to play one of his other attackers as a makeshift forward against the Red Devils after the Irons chose not to replace Sebastien Haller in the previous window.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Moyes will be angered by the timing of the sending off, Campbell said:

“Of course, David Moyes will be fuming because it’s so late on in the game.

“Antonio has been top class this season. To have your most influential player at the top end of the pitch suspended is not ideal.

“It is going to give someone else a chance. But without that pace and power that Antonio possesses they could struggle.

“He is a handful for anybody. They might miss him big time.”

Antonio is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with four goals.

He also has three assists to his name in the 2021-22 campaign.
