Ndombele is 'killing Tottenham dressing room' and 'will go' as '£110m' Conte transfer plan revealed - pundit

Noel Whelan has claimed Tanguy Ndombele’s attitude is “killing the dressing room” at Tottenham.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 24-year-old is among the “deadwood” Antonio Conte needs to get rid off.

A Tottenham source told Football Insider (25th November) Conte has told Spurs chiefs he is happy for the club to listen to offers for Ndombele in January.

The Italian manager does not believe the French midfielder can change his ways after calling his work rate out publicly last week.

Whelan slammed Ndombele’s mentality at Spurs and suggested he is dragging his teammates down around him.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Attitude is everything. It’s not about ability sometimes, but your character and your attitude and what you’re showing on the training ground.

“That willingness to work for the team and be a team player has always been an issue since he came to Tottenham with his attitude.

“The club will try and get rid of this kind of player that don’t have the attitude, don’t have the fight, don’t have the desire and don’t want to be a team player.

“They will go. Because you will then rebuild a new team with all the right characters and personalities that you need to be successful. That is exactly what Conte will do.

“Get out the deadwood. Start from scratch. This is your piece of paper, get the players down there that you want to be at the football club to make it successful again because the fans will not accept this.

“I look at Ndombele and there’s too many players in that squad that are killing that dressing room and stopping Tottenham from progressing in the right way.

“We should be talking about positive things about Tottenham but there are certain players letting that club down.”

Ndombele has started once in his three appearances under Conte so far.

He has played a total of 12 times this season.
