Piers Morgan made a cheeky appeal for Harry Kane to leave Tottenham and join Arsenal because, as he said, ‘we need you’.
The outspoken TV personality pleaded with Kane during his interview with Alan Sugar and Geoff Shreeves for a special programme on Sky Sports ahead of the north London derby.
The famous Gunners fan acknowledged that the Spurs striker is indeed world class before stating his desire for his club to sign him.
He said: “We did it with Sol Campbell so we can do it again, Harry Kane’s a Gooner and we will get him back. Harry, we need you. Come home!”
Morgan calling Kane a Gooner was referring to the now well-known fact, that the striker was part of the youth set-up at Arsenal.
There have been a few photos shared around the internet of the now Spurs favourite in an Arsenal shirt, despite the striker’s protests that he had to wear the kit as a member of the team.
The 52-year-old host of Good Morning Britain also referred to the infamous transfer Sol Campbell made in 2001 when he jumped from Tottenham to Arsenal.
The defender sustained significant abuse for the decision to move across a north London throughout his career.
Despite calling him world class, Morgan will hope that Kane does not showcase the full extent of his ability when facing Arsenal on Saturday.
The striker did miss both of England’s international friendlies, against Germany and Brazil, due to a knee injury but his manager has stated his confidence of Kane being ready to play on Saturday.
Even with injury problems, the 24-year-old has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this season for Spurs.
