'He needs a lot of work' - Chris Sutton delivers verdict on Celtic summer signing
By Danny Wright
Parkhead favourite Chris Sutton was left impressed by Odsonne Edouard after he scored on his Celtic debut against Hamilton on Friday night, but has admitted that the striker is some way off being the finished article.
Edouard, 19, scored the Hoops’ final goal in the routine 4-1 victory at the SuperSeal Stadium as he was thrown straight into the deep end by Brendan Rodgers after he was named the lead the line of attack in the absence of Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele.
Although the summer signing is likely to be dropped from the starting XI for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with his parent club Paris Saint-Germain, Sutton already believes that he has shown some signs of having great potential.
“Raw. Fast. Did some good things but early days. Looks like he needs a lot of work but he’s at the right club to develop,” said the former Celtic striker on his personal Twitter account when asked about Edouard’s debut on Saturday.

Edouard spent last season on loan with Toulouse in the French Ligue 1 as he is yet to earn a senior appearance with PSG.

He made 17 appearances across all competitions last term but only scored one goal – a figure which he has already matched in one game in the Scottish Premiership.
The French Under-19 international was snapped up by Rodgers on transfer deadline day after the manager found it hard to ensure that Griffiths and Dembele stayed fit.
The latter is yet to play in the league this season while Scotland international Griffiths picked up a knock while away with the Tartan Army earlier this week.
In other Celtic news, PSG boss Unai Emery has issued a warning to the Hoops ahead of Tuesday.
