Everton fans slam Barry after defeat against Tottenham
By Harvey Byrne
Gareth Barry played 64 minutes of Everton’s 3-2 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon – and Toffees fans on Twitter are hoping he never plays again.
The 36-year-old midfielder lined up in a very conservative midfield which also contained Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye.
However, the trio were unable to keep an impressive Spurs team at bay as two goals from Harry Kane and a late Dele Alli effort cancelled out goals from Romelu Lukaku and Enner Valencia.
It was certainly a match to forget for Barry, who made his first start in the league since the 6-3 win over Bournemouth at the start of February.
Now, large sections of the Everton fan base on social media are hoping he never plays for them again, while many claimed the game was gone when Barry was named in the line-up.

Probably would have still got beat without Barry in the side anyway but at least it would have been 11 v 11 #efc

We barely even turned up today. But I put most of that squarely with the Manager who set the tone picking Barry and changing formation #EFC

IMO, Mason Holgate should now see out the rest of the season (replacing??) & that performance could sadly be Gareth Barry's swansong at #efc

Soon as Barry breaks the Prem Appearance record, the sooner we can get him as far away from the first team as possible #EFC

Barry has been at Everton since joining on an initial loan deal from Manchester City in the summer of 2013.
He has been a good servant over the years, racking up 144 appearances for the club.
However, at his age now Premier League football may be beyond him.
In other Everton news, Toffees fans were also angry at this senior duo on social media.
