Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves "is ready to play at a big club" amid interest from Man United, according to Paul Robinson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed Neves, 24, is "a top player" who should be playing Champions League football.

A United source has told Football Insider today that the Wolves midfielder is a long-term target of the club.

Neves joined the Wanderers in a blockbuster £15.8million transfer from FC Porto in July 2017.

He has 18 months left on his contract at Molineux.

When asked by Football Insider if Neves would be a welcome addition at Old Trafford, Robinson said: "Neves is a top player.

"I like his creativity and I like what he can do on the ball.

"Defensively, I am not so sure that he is a [Ralf] Rangnick player though.

"When I look at their squad, I cannot see where he'd fit in.

"I think he is ready to play at a big club and at that level because he's a top player. He needs to be playing Champions League football.

"However, in regards to Man United I cannot see where he fits in or where he'd play. They have a lot of players who are in a similar mould do Neves."

Neves has been one of Wolves' most consistent performers this season and has made 18 appearances across all competitions.

Wolves travel to Man United tomorrow.
