Newcastle are second favourites to sign Manchester United’s Ashley Young this transfer window, according to the latest bookmaker odds.
SkyBet have priced the Magpies as 7/1 to snap up the Premier League winning wide man, while Stoke are currently the bookies’ favourites at 9/2.
According to SkyBet, West Brom are also in the mix, as are Young’s former club Aston Villa and any Chinese club with the odds at 10/1 for a move to either the West Midlands or East Asia.
Young has been in and out of the Man United team over the last year after suffering with various injuries and being stuck down Jose Mourinho’s pecking order.
The 31-year-old made 23 appearances across all competitions for the Europa League winners and supplied one assist, which came in the 3-1 win over Middlesbrough in March.
He wore the captain’s armband as he played on the left wing in the 2-0 win against eventual Premier League champions Chelsea in April.
However Young’s time at Old Trafford has certainly been a turbulent one thanks to separate setbacks and issues with form.
The 30-times England international can play in a variety of different positions including both left and right wings, as well as both left and right full-back roles.
Young made a name for himself at Watford and Villa for his displays on the left wing, although Rafa Benitez has already made one addition to that area of his squad by signing Christian Atsu on a permanent deal in May.
In other Newcastle news, an immediate move away from St. James’ Park for this defender may be off after latest the development.
