Newcastle goalkeeper Matz Sels is being eyed by Fenerbahce, according to a report.
The Chronicle claim that the Turkish top-flight club are keen on signing the 25-year-old,
It is understood that the Magpies have made the shot stopper available for transfer this summer as they look to make room to sign a new goalkeeper.
The report details that it’s unclear if Sels will leave permanently or on loan, but the north-east club want to try make back some of the £5.5million they originally paid.
Fenerbahce are believed to be keen on a season-long loan deal and have an option to buy.
Sels completed a move to St James’ Park last summer, but made just 14 senior appearances for Newcastle last season in their title winning season in the Championship.
The Belgian fell behind teammate Karl Darlow in the pecking order and now looks to end his brief stay with the club.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle need to offloads a couple of goalkeepers before thinking about bringing a new one and Sels has been deemed surplus to requirements. The Belgian was unable to demand a place in the starting line-up on a regular basis and he would have to make do with another fringe role if he stayed next season. Rafael Bentiez needs to ensure that he brings in a goalkeeper that can help them in the top flight and Premier League experience would be a major boost. Karl Darlow has played just nine times in the division before and it would be a considerable step up next year. Pepe Reina has been mentioned as a possible number one next season and he would be an ideal candidate.
