Newcastle could sign striker 'top four are watching' after newspaper update on Sarr - pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Newcastle should complete a mooted deal for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 23-year-old would give the Magpies “more firepower”.
As reported by the Daily Mail (October 28th), Sarr is “firmly on the radar” of newly-rich Newcastle after catching their attention with his displays this term.
The report claims Watford are unlikely to consider selling their prized asset in January, and his contract at Vicarage Road expires in 2024.
Newcastle are looking to spend big following the completion of a Saudi-backed £305million takeover of the club last month.
The Senegal international has netted four times in 10 Premier League games this term.

They are currently managerless having sacked Steve Bruce.
Whelan claimed Sarr has the “longevity” to improve with Newcastle as their project develops.
“He’d be a great signing,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ll have competition because a lot of clubs will be looking should he become available, but he’d be a good buy.
“He’s producing again at Watford in the Premier League and the top four clubs are watching him.
“At 23, he’s a great age and there’s that longevity which will allow him to improve over time at the club.
“He’d add more firepower to that frontline.
“However, they have to sort out that leaky defence.”
Newcastle have been cut adrift in the Premier League’s bottom three and are now six points from safety.
