Gilliead has recently returned from a loan move from League Two outfit Luton, where he starred in 21 fixtures in all competitions with a return of two goals and two assists.
It is now believed that the Newcastle hierarchy are keen for the youngster to earn playing time at a higher level and Stuart McCall’s side are presenting the perfect opportunity for the the midfielder.
The famous League One side are currently sat in fourth place in the English third tier with seven points separating them from the automatic spots.
It is expected that Gilliead will now join the team as they look to win promotion to the Championship.
He is yet to make his senior Newcastle debut, but he will be looking to impress with just 18 months left on his contract.
Football Insider verdict:
This loan move presents the perfect opportunity for Newcastle to see whether Gilliead has a future at the club. It is expected that Bradford already have a settled midfield due to their league position and the Toon youngster will now have to show why he is good enough to become an established player in a successful team. However, if he sees little match time for the Yorkshire side then it will be rightly assumed that he isn’t going to make it at Newcastle. It is a brave move for the youngster, but one that he has to take to progress with his career.
