Jurgen Klopp will allow Danny Ings to leave on loan in January, with Newcastle United among the clubs interested in his services, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that Klopp is willing to let Ings out on loan but he does not intend to listen to offers for Daniel Sturridge until the summer.
It was previously reported that Rafa Benitez was “pushing hard” to sign Sturridge as he attempts to keep the Magpies in the Premier League.
However, the Daily Mail report provides some positive news for Newcastle United, as the club are also interested in Ings but face competition from Stoke City and West Ham.
Ings has made two appearances in the Premier League for the Reds this season, playing a total of 11 minutes.
Football Insider Verdict
This is a boost for Newcastle United as Ings would be a solid signing for them in January. While the striker’s game time has been limited this season due to an injury, he should get more minutes under his belt ahead of January and he looked sharp on his recent return. Klopp acknowledges that he needs game time to get 100% and that means that Sturridge looks set to stay and probably miss out on his World Cup in the summer. The Magpies have struggled for goals this season, and have been keen to sign a new outlet in January. With Klopp making Ings publicly available so soon, it gives Benitez the chance to try and strike early. A battle at the wrong end of the table is exactyl what Ings needs – with the chance to be a hero at St James’ Park a definite bonus.
