Newcastle United star could go on strike to land a sensational Liverpool move this month, sources have told Football Insider.

The boyhood Liverpool fan has had his head turned by the Merseyside giants' “concrete and active” interest in signing him.

Talks between the two clubs over a player-exchange deal collapsed at the end of June, but Liverpool’s interest remains live.

Gordon is said to be very keen on heading to Anfield, but Newcastle are also ready to offer him a new and improved contract to keep him happy.

There are now fears at the north-east giants that Gordon could try and engineer a move for himself when he returns from his post-Euros break, with one possibility that he could effectively down tools.

The England international was on the books at Liverpool when he was a boy, but ended up being released when he was 11 years old.

Newcastle United value Anthony Gordon at £100million

If Liverpool were to pull off this blockbuster move it would come at a price, as the Magpies are looking to make a major profit from his potential sale.

The north-east giants originally paid £45million to sign the left winger from Everton in January 2023.

Gordon has impressed during his time at St. James’ Park, scoring 12 goals and creating 11 assists in all competitions last season.

Leaving the Magpies would be a big blow to Eddie Howe’s side, considering he won the clubs Player of the Season award for the 2023-24 campaign.
