Newcastle United are set to offer Kieran Trippier a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer of 2025, with the right-back having joined from Atletico Madrid in 2022.

He came close to joining German giants Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, and was keen to go.

But Trippier is happy and settled at Newcastle, and would sign an extension if offered one, with all parties believing it will get done.

Newcastle United to offer senior star new deal

Sources told Football Insider last month that the Magpies were expected to open talks with the right-back over a new deal, with other clubs set to be monitoring his situation with a view to getting a cut-price deal.

The 33-year-old has been a key player under Eddie Howe this season, captaining the club on several occasions.

He has made 36 appearances across all competitions in an injury-hit season, with Trippier registering one goal and 11 assists.

The much-loved Magpies man could have left England for another European adventure in January with Bayern, who have English representation through Harry Kane and Eric Dier.

But the experienced full-back, who lifted the La Liga trophy during his time with Atletico, remained at Newcastle.

Trippier is currently sidelined with a calf injury, with Howe’s side trying to push further up the Premier League table.
