The Clarets are currently 14th-placed in the Premier League table and seven points above the drop zone with just three games remaining.

Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle currently have Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot as their goalkeeping options ahead of next season, with the former showing signs that he could cut the grade in the top-flight. However, signing a recognised Premier League performer would be smart by Benitez and Heaton certainly ticks all the boxes. He has been one of the best in the division this year and is a brilliant shot stopper. Heaton has now made two senior caps for England as a reward for his performances and could bring some extra quality to the Newcastle squad. The 31-year-old is at a peak of his career and the £15million reported fee seems a fair amount. Benitez would be wise to use part of his summer transfer bank in securing his services.
In other Newcastle transfer news, the club’s 20-year-old is likely to exit in the summer.
