George Caulkin of the Times provided a significant update on the potential takeover of Newcastle United and Newcastle fans are besides themselves with joy.

Caulkin revealed Amanda Staveley and her PCP Capital Partners had submitted a bid of £300million and they were close to an agreement with Mike Ashley.

The Times journalist shared the news on Twitter on Wednesday ahead of the Magpies clash with Everton:

Caulkin also revealed that there had been significant progress towards deal in the last few days, due to both sides making compromises.

The journalist continued to share, stating that there will be money for transfer next month even if the deal isn’t finalised.

The update caused Newcastle United fans to celebrate with one believing George had literally saved their Christmas.
