'My king', 'Next level', 'Superstar' - Newcastle fans rave over senior star in loss v Watford

Newcastle United fans were left raving over the performance of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on social media despite being on the losing side in their clash against Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Slovakian shot stopper, who arrived at St James’ Park on a season-long loan back in January, was beaten twice in the first half by Roberto Pereyra and Andre Grey as the Hornets took charge of the clash at Vicarage Road.

However, had it not been for the 29-year-old between the sticks it could have been much more for the home side, pulling off a series of smart saves throughout the clash, including a crucial double stop to deny Troy Deeney from the penalty spot after Paul Dummett had conceded a foul in the box.

Despite disappointment over the result, which saw Ayoze Perez net the consolation goal, the Toon Army took to Twitter to voice their admiration for their goalkeeper, with many dubbing the Sparta Prague loanee the best player in a Newcastle shirt during the clash.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Since arriving in England Dubravka has gone on to make 10 appearances for the Magpies, and has a permanent purchase clause included in the terms of his loan contract.
