Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to praise the performance of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka as he made his kept a clean sheet on his debut for the club against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Slovakian international arrived on Tyneside from Sparta Prague in a deadline day swoop, putting pen to paper on a loan deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the season, although it has been confirmed that there is a clause included which the Magpies can activate to turn his temporary stay into a permanent move.
After being named on the bench against Crystal Palace in his first game, he replaced Karl Darlow in the starting XI as the Red Devils visited St James’ Park, joining fellow January arrival Kenedy in the team while Islam Slimani remained an absentee, and was outstanding in the 1-0 victory.
There was much intrigue in what the 29-year-old shot stopper could bring to the side, and the Toon Army were impressed on Twitter with what he showed during his first display.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
32 mins:Good save from Dubravka as he gets down low to thwart a goalbound effort from Alexis Sanchez. It is the first time the #NUFC keeper has been really tested.

Dúbravka being able to kick the ball is a huge upgrade on what we’ve seen this season

Dubravka very much a sweeper-keeper. Looks composed so far. Diame has started brilliantly. On the flip-side – why can't Shelvey just play a simple pass. Infuriating when he's in that mood. Decent start overall though from #nufc

Dubravka looking tidy with his ball control. Also seems accustomed at ordering forward his defence when #NUFC attack. Promising signs

An obvious comparison but there's a little bit of Pav about Dubravka like #nufc

This Dubravka fella is probably a better centre-half than Darlow is a keeper – looks class on the ball

Don't wanna temp fate but Dubravka's command of his box and his reading of the game looks well tasty

I like Dubravka already ????

The loanee will have to battle with Darlow as well as Republic of Ireland international Rob Elliot to retain his spot in the start XI this season, while manager Rafael Benitez also has Freddie Woodman and Matz Sels out on loan for a total of five goalkeepers at his disposal.
In other Newcastle United news, the Magpies beat off a whole host of sides to secure the capture of one January signing.
