Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Colback display against Nottingham Forest
By Amir Mir
Jack Colback was substituted midway through the second half as Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at St James’ Park on Friday night – and fans on Twitter slaughtered his performance.
Striker Dwight Gayle scored a brace as Rafa Benitez’ side beat ten-man Forest to secure a much-needed three points.
The win sends the north east club top of the Championship table after Brighton’s clash against Cardiff was postponed on the same day due to fog.
The Magpies now lead the league table by one point, nine ahead of third-placed Reading, who had their game abandoned as well at half-time due to bad weather with the score goalless.
Nonetheless, despite the three points for Newcastle many were critical of Colback’s performance.

Fans slated the midfielder for a shocking display as they singled out faults within his game.
Many felt Colback failed to pass the ball forward as the home side struggled in the absence of Jonjo Shelvey.
Colback, who picked up a yellow card during the game, was replaced by Mohamed Diame in the second half with many supporters pointing out how the former Hull player made the difference.
Many were highly critical of Colback, with many hoping he never plays for the club again while they urged the club to sell their player.
Overall, fans were not happy with his display as a brace from Gayle and goals from Matt Ritchie sealed the win.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Diame showed why he should be playing over Colback, albeit against 10 men. Will be a big miss #nufc

Good win, poor performance for the most part. Colback was shocking, Perez doesn't offer enough, defence was suspect. #NUFC
