Newcastle are reportedly interested in Hull midfielder Sam Clucas – and that has prompted a mixed reaction from the Tyneside supporters on Twitter.
The Sun has reported that Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is keen on signing up the 26-year-old this summer despite him suffering relegation from the Premier League with the Humberside club last season.
However it is said that Hull are reluctant to let Clucas leave, but the report states that a bid of £4million could be enough to twist the Tigers’ arm.
Clucas is an extremely versatile player who can play anywhere from left-back to up front.
He featured 41 times for Hull across all competitions last season, scoring three goals, which included one against Tottenham on the final day of the campaign.
Despite him being highly-rated by the Hull support, a good portion of Newcastle fans aren’t keen on the former Mansfield ace – with one saying “he’s better than Wearside Jack” in reference to current midfielder Jack Colback.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
I don't "know" anything but if Clucas is available for £4m then that absolutely reeks of the kind of deal #nufc would be doing under Ashley

Who is Sam Clucas? #NUFC

I know all this "trust Rafa" stuff. I tend to agree with most of it. But bringing Clucas to #NUFC? There are issues here, no mistake.

Clucas has been a Hull player since his move from Chesterfield in 2015 and has quickly become a fan favourite at the KCOM Stadium.
He is known for his hard-working displays and ball-winning tenacity, as well as being capable of bombing forward and providing support at the other end of the pitch.
In other Newcastle news, they are expected to make a move for an international attacking midfielder.
