Newcastle fans get their own back on Brighton player after shocker
By Russell Edge
Newcastle fans jumped to Twitter to mock Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale after he conceded two own goals in their 2-0 defeat to Norwich.
Stockdale can perhaps count himself a little unlucky with the goals he let in, which both came after Alex Pritchard had hit the post, only for the ball to ricochet into the net off the back of the 31-year-old.
Stockdale has been a near ever present for his side this season, missing just one match in the league as he has helped lead the club to automatic promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.
The English goalkeeper, who earlier in the week had hit out at Newcastle and accused them of ‘bottling’ the title race, could have seen his side secure the Championship trophy with a victory over Norwich.
However, his two own goals have given the Magpies the chance to close the gap on Brighton with victory over Preston North End on Monday, much to the delight of the Toon Army.

Fans rushed to social media to both mock and thank the Brighton keeper, while a couple suggested his allegiances lay in black and white.
