Newcastle fans warned over AI as ‘fascinating’ images emerge

Newcastle United’s new stadium design would ensure the Saudi owners have a proud legacy to look back on.

That is the view of former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, who warns the leaked images may have been made by AI.

Images have emerged of what Newcastle’s proposed 65,000-capacity stadium could look like, with similarities to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.

No decision has yet to be formally announced over whether Newcastle will build a new ground or redevelop St James’ Park.

Newcastle though have completed the purchase of Leazes Terrace, which is situated next to St James’ Park and would allow the club to expand their current stadium.

Newcastle stadium plans questioned as fans could be ‘caught out’ by AI

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the new stadium would make a “big impact” on Newcastle and the North East.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness would like to see the design come to life, but warns it will be “expensive.”

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The images I’ve seen are very much like the Allianz Arena in Munich, and it’s fascinating.

“Is it true? That’s my only question. If it is, then that does show the ambition. It would be amazing for the North East.

“If it is the one in Leazer’s Park, slightly away from St James’, then that would allow the whole St James’ area to be rebuilt and remodelled.

“There would be a legacy for the whole city centre that the Saudi owners could be very proud of. It would make a huge impact on the North East. It looks amazing and I hope it can happen. It looks expensive, but it looks beautiful.

“Are these true? I just don’t know if this is an AI situation. I know AI is prominent in many areas of life these days, and that people follow wrong stories. I’ve been caught myself and I also use it myself sometimes in terms of images.

“Let’s just see if it’s true. If it is true, then I’d like to have thought they would have kept it quiet until a proper announcement.”

Why does Eddie Howe hold Newcastle concerns?

Newcastle are set for a huge summer of transfer business after a disappointing season which saw the club miss out on European qualification.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Howe has concerns about his Newcastle squad as there could be an exodus of stars this summer.

Multiple players are considering their futures on Tyneside, whilst it already looks like forward Anthony Gordon will be joining Bayern Munich.

Newcastle’s transfer activity was criticised last summer, and it is crucial that Howe and the club make no mistakes this time around.
