Newcastle in race against time to secure Oskar Pietuszewski transfer as Porto plot talks

Newcastle United need to accelerate a move for Oskar Pietuszewski over the next month to have any chance of signing him as Porto plan a new contract offer to increase his release clause.

Newcastle are not letting their disappointing 2025-26 campaign stand in the way of their lofty ambitions as the summer transfer window beckons.

PIF have reiterated their desire to see the club competing at the top of the Premier League in the years to come, with a big decision set to be made on Eddie Howe’s future soon.

Teen winger Pietuszewski is on the Magpies’ radar as he makes a real impression at Porto following a winter move from Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Newcastle’s transfer plans could be on hold amid uncertainty over Howe’s position, but if they want to sign the Poland international this summer, then a move will need to happen soon as Porto devise a contract plan.

Newcastle must make imminent Oskar Pietuszewski move amid Porto contract plans

Pietuszewski is a left winger by trade, and Newcastle will need reinforcements in that particular position this summer if Anthony Gordon departs.

According to a new report from Portuguese outlet Record, the Magpies have joined a host of top clubs in the race to sign the 17-year-old this summer.

He has quickly proven himself as a key player at Porto, despite his age and lack of experience in a league of that standard, and they have no plans to let him go easily this summer.

The report also states that Porto are planning to offer Pietuszewski a new contract so they can increase the £52million release clause that is written into his current terms.

He turns 18 on 20 May, which is when they will be able to agree a new contract, and so Newcastle clearly need to act fast to begin talks with the youngster’s camp before Porto can have him sign another deal.

They will fancy their chances of being able to splash out around £50m on the highly-rated talent, but any higher and a deal could be off the table, so transfer discussions need to be held before 20 May if they are serious about signing him.

What is the latest on Gordon leaving Newcastle?

Pietuszewski would provide strong competition to Gordon if he were to join the Tyneside outfit, and could even be eyed as a replacement for the England star given the current talk around a potential exit.

Sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle are ready to accept an offer for Gordon this summer, with Bayern Munich and Liverpool interested, but the Daily Mail‘s latest update claims that he has not asked for a move away as yet.

Howe recently insisted that the 25-year-old remains committed to Newcastle and it is a “non-question” to doubt whether his recent injury concerns have been related to transfer talk.

Those rumours will only increase as the summer approaches, however, and it would make a lot of sense for the Magpies to start planning for life after Gordon by making a move for Pietuszewski soon.
