Newcastle United are willing to sell Callum Wilson this summer but are struggling to find a market for him, sources have told Football Insider.

Eddie Howe remains a big fan of the striker who he previously worked with at Bournemouth but the club's hierarchy regard him as a saleable asset.

The north east giants attempted to sell Wilson before the 30th June accounting ‘deadline’ for profit and sustainability rules but could not strike a deal with any club.

Sources at Newcastle say there has been little interest so far this summer in the club's £10-15million price tag after exploratory talks with rivals.

One option open to Newcastle is to further reduce their valuation of the England international now he has entered the final 12 months of his deal.

Newcastle ready to let Callum Wilson leave despite his goals

Wilson joined Newcastle in 2020 for an undisclosed fee and has gone on to play a crucial role in the club’s recent success.

The striker has played 108 games for the Magpies since then, scoring 48 goals and providing 11 assists.

However, he could only feature in 20 Premier League games last season as he dealt with an injury-plagued campaign.

Wilson’s contract expires next summer, meaning this window will be the last chance for the club to profit from him unless his deal is extended.

One reason the Magpies could be willing to let Wilson leave is because Alexander Isak is expected to stay at St. James’ Park this summer.
