Newcastle United have registered their interest in signing Barcelona’s Raphinha, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies are in the market for a “lethal” right-sided forward this summer, and the former Leeds United player has been shortlisted as a target.

However, sources say that no deal is close between the two clubs at this stage.

Raphinha is currently at Copa America representing Brazil and isn’t pushing to leave the La Liga club right now.

After Lamine Yamal’s astonishing rise last season, sources claim Barcelona are exploring the market for Raphinha this summer to raise funds.

That could open the door for Newcastle to move for the 27-year-old as they continue to try and bolster their attacking options.

Newcastle would be gaining an experienced winger

Raphinha moved to Barcelona in 2022, and since then he’s featured regularly for the Spanish club.

Last season the winger played 37 games in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and creating 13 assists, but he was pushed out to the left flank in the second half of the campaign to accommodate the remarkable 16-year-old Yamal.

But there is less risk in signing him due to his experience with Leeds United, where he racked up 67 appearances.

Raphina played 65 times in the Premier League where he scored 17 times and provided 12 assists, showcasing his ability to impact games in the English top flight.

Raphinha isn’t the only right-winger being considered by the Magpies though, as Crysencio Summerville is also being considered.

West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen is another target, but Football Insider revealed he’s being valued at £100million.
