Sources: Newcastle submitting new Sanderson bid amid £10m Bruce transfer reveal
Newcastle United are readying a new bid for Wolves defender Dion Sanderson, Football Insider has learned.
The centre-back has emerged as a top target for Steve Bruce as he works with a £10million summer transfer kitty.
A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that the club are planning to submit a fresh offer for Sanderson after Wolves rejected a bid of £1.5million.
That trumped the offer of £1m tabled by north-east rivals Sunderland, who are keen to sign last season’s loan star on a permanent deal.
Wolves have given the green light for the central defender, 20, to leave if their £2m asking price is met.
The youngster signed a one-year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2022 before being loaned to Sunderland in October.

Ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo did not rate Sanderson as a future Premier League star.
The defender is still deemed expendable despite the recent appointment of Portuguese manager Bruno Lage.
Newcastle have Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clarke and Fabian Schar on the books as centre-back options.
Federico Fernandez meanwhile is out of contract but has been offered a new deal at St. James’ Park.
Sanderson has made one senior appearance for Wolves, in a League Cup tie against Aston Villa in 2019.
He featured 26 times for the Black Cats last term as they suffered play-off heartache in their bid to secure promotion from the third-tier.
He was named Sunderland Supporters Young Player of the Year in May despite missing the last month of the campaign with a back injury.
