Newcastle tipped to accept £12m Hayden bid after major update - Campbell
Newcastle United would accept a bid of £10-12million for Isaac Hayden amid interest from Watford.
That is the view of former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s future at St. James’ Park.
Hayden put pen to paper on a new six-year contract on Tyneside last September but he could exit before the transfer window shuts next week.
As revealed by Football Insider (24 August), Watford have set their sights on a late-window move for Hayden and it is understood the midfielder is keen on a move to Vicarage Road.
Campbell backed the Magpies to allow the Englishman to leave even though he has been a regular starter under Steve Bruce.
“I think it’s difficult to stand in his way if he wants to return down south,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“If they got offered £10-12million I’m sure they would take it. I think the new contract last year was just to tie him down and reward him for his hard work over the past few years.
“I don’t think it was necessarily with the idea that he could be turned into a £50million player. I think it was an upgrade for the player.
“I think they should let him go.”
Hayden has started the first two games of the 2021-22 campaign for Newcastle and would appear to be a big part of Bruce’s plans.
Born in Chelmsford, the centre-midfielder has continually been linked with a return to the south during his time in the north-east.
