Newcastle tipped to 'cast aside' Longstaff after Everton hold initial talks - Campbell
Sean Longstaff will be one of the first players to be shown the exit door by Newcastle United’s new owners, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a January move to Goodison Park is looming for the 23-year-old.
Longstaff‘s contract at St. James’ Park is due to expire at the end of next June.
The Athletic revealed on August 11th that Everton have held “initial talks” with the centre-midfielder over a move.
Rafael Benitez has placed Longstaff on his wish list and is keen to work with him once again.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Longstaff’s future, Campbell said:

“I think there’s going to be negotiations with a few players but I’m not sure if they will be part of it.
“Longstaff has been linked with Rafa Benitez at Everton. Benitez really likes him so that one will get one I think.
“Look, Newcastle have big bank now. The expectations have changed overnight. Youngsters like Longstaff are probably going to be cast aside for experienced players like [Georginio] Wijnaldum.
“I’m sure there has been and will be negotiations with Longstaff. He could stay and be part of the squad but does he really want that?
“If he’s serious he will want to get away and play. I can’t see him re-signing. Newcastle won’t want him to leave on a free though so they’ll probably try and do something in January.”
