Newcastle United chiefs have injected £37million into the club in the form of a new share issue, Football Insider can reveal.

A Companies House submission published on Wednesday (10 April), backdated to March 28, revealed that £37million was paid into the club for one new allotted share.

It is not clear whether the new cash injection will cover operating costs at St James’ Park or contribute to the club’s transfer budget this summer.

It is not the first cash injection from the club’s owners this season after £60million of shares were issued back in August.

Newcastle will be eager to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad this summer but are on the brink of breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The Tyneside club suffered a loss of £73million in their latest 2022-23 accounts which followed heavy losses of £71million in the 2021-22 accounting period.

Newcastle will now have to monitor their spending to ensure they do not exceed the £105million allowable loss limit over a three-year period.

They will have until June 30 to raise funds to comply with financial regulations for the 2023-24 period - all deals done in July and beyond will contribute to the 2024/25 accounts.
